League Island was an island in the
Delaware River, just upstream from the mouth of the
Schuylkill River. League Island is the site of the
Philadelphia shipyard that eventually became the
Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. League Island, now attached to the shore as the channel was closed at the eastern end to form the present ship basin and former airfield.
League Island is located at the foot of South Broad Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA .
